Alderney has issued commemorative coinage under British authority since 1989, with the Royal Mint and various private mints producing licensed pieces that circulate legally but are almost never seen in trade. The Platinum Jubilee series of 2022 was issued across multiple Channel Island jurisdictions simultaneously, fragmenting the commemorative market in a way that diluted collector interest in any single piece.
