Additional information

Tristan da Cunha, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic and the most remote permanently inhabited island on Earth, has issued commemorative coinage since the 1950s largely as a revenue stream rather than for circulation — the island's roughly 250 residents use Saint Helena pounds in practice. This 2016 piece marks the 90th birthday of Elizabeth II, reproducing a 1947 photograph taken the year she turned 21 and broadcast her famous Commonwealth address from Cape Town.
