| Obverse description | The coin is struck in the form of a Celtic cross with four equal arms terminating in rounded lobes, the entire border and arms elaborately decorated with interlaced Celtic knotwork in high relief against a textured field. At the centre, a raised circular medallion bears the right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the fifth definitive portrait by Jody Clark, wearing a pearl necklace and drop earring.
