Issued to mark Elizabeth II surpassing Victoria's record of 63 years, 216 days on 9 September 2015, this coin was released in the same year the milestone was reached. The decision to use the fourth-generation Rank-Broadley portrait — introduced in 1998 — rather than the then-current fifth-generation Jody Clark effigy was deliberate, anchoring the design visually in the decades when the record was actually being accumulated.
Jersey, as a Crown Dependency, issues its own coinage independently of the Royal Mint.
