Alderney's commemorative program has long served as a vehicle for British subjects and themes that the Royal Mint declines to issue directly. This 2005 piece honors John Woodward, the British Army officer who commanded land forces during the Falklands War — not to be confused with Admiral Sandy Woodward, who commanded the naval task force. The distinction matters, and catalog errors conflating the two are not uncommon.
