Beschrijving voorzijde The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, is depicted in right-facing portrait, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend ELIZABETH·II D·G·REG·F·D arcs around the upper field, while FIVE POUNDS is inscribed along the lower rim. The engraver's initials IRB appear below the truncation of the neck. The mirrored proof fields provide a sharp contrast against the finely frosted portrait, characteristic of Royal Mint proof coinage of this period.

Beschrijving keerzijde A three-quarter facing bust of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson is depicted in his full naval dress uniform, adorned with epaulettes and a star order on his left breast, and wearing his distinctive bicorne hat. The name HORATIO NELSON arcs prominently across the upper field, while the commemorative dates 1805 and 2005 flank the portrait in the lower field, marking the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. The engraver's initials JB for James Butler appear to the lower right of the design. The deeply mirrored proof fields enhance the sculptural quality of Butler's bold, high-relief portrait.
