Beschrijving voorzijde The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted crowned and wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The Queen is shown in a draped and robed bust presentation with fine portrait detail characteristic of Rank-Broadley's coinage work. The legend arcs around the upper periphery, with the denomination and date distributed around the lower field. The engraver's initials IRB appear truncated below the portrait.

Aanvullende informatie

Part of the Royal Mint's broader World War I centenary program, this issue focuses on the civilian war effort — munitions work, rationing, recruitment drives — rather than the front itself. The Home Front series drew some criticism at the time for the breadth of subjects chosen, with collectors debating whether the program had been stretched too thin across too many releases.

The .925 specification here matches standard commemorative practice adopted by the Mint in the 1990s and maintained consistently through the 2010s centenary runs.
