Gibraltar's RAF commemorative series, issued in the mid-2000s, drew on licensing arrangements with the Ministry of Defence that allowed for officially sanctioned imagery — a distinction that separated these from the crowded field of generic aviation-themed crowns flooding the collector market at the time.
