Additional information

Gibraltar's RAF commemorative series, issued in the mid-2000s, drew on licensing arrangements with the Ministry of Defence that allowed for officially sanctioned imagery — a distinction that separated these from the crowded field of generic aviation-themed crowns flooding the collector market at the time. The Hurricane, often overshadowed by the Spitfire in popular memory, actually bore the greater burden during the Battle of Britain: RAF Fighter Command credited Hurricanes with more enemy aircraft destroyed than all other defences combined.

KM#1357 is a standard Pobjoy Mint striking for Gibraltar, a prolific pairing throughout this era.
