| 背面描述 | A highly detailed depiction of an Avro Lancaster heavy bomber in flight, shown in three-quarter view banking to the right amid stylised clouds rendered in relief. The aircraft displays RAF roundels and markings consistent with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight livery. The legend 'HISTORY OF THE RAF' arcs along the left periphery, while 'Battle of Britain Memorial Flight' curves along the upper right. The denomination 'FIVE POUNDS' is inscribed along the lower arc, and the name 'AVRO LANCASTER' appears in the field to the lower right of the aircraft. |

Gibraltar's prolific commemorative program has long relied on British military themes to drive collector sales, and this Lancaster issue is squarely part of that formula. The Avro Lancaster itself needs little introduction — it flew the majority of Bomber Command's wartime sorties, including the low-level Ruhr dams raid of May 1943 conducted by 617 Squadron using Barnes Wallis's bouncing bomb, a mission that destroyed two of three targeted dams and killed roughly 1,600 people downstream.
By 2007, fewer than seventeen airworthy or taxiable Lancasters survived globally.
