HMS Warspite earned more battle honours than any other ship in Royal Navy history — fifteen in total, spanning both World Wars. At Jutland in 1916, a jammed helm sent her into an uncontrolled circle directly through German lines, drawing fire from half the High Seas Fleet and surviving. At Narvik in 1940 she steamed up a Norwegian fjord under air attack to destroy seven German destroyers at point-blank range. By 2005, Alderney had developed a reliable market issuing silver proofs commemorating British naval subjects, largely absorbed by the collector rather than the circulating economy.
