Behind him, a silhouetted group of advancing infantrymen with rifles is depicted in lower relief against the mirrored field, conveying depth and movement. The famous lines from Laurence Binyon's 'For the Fallen' are inscribed across the field in mixed-case lettering: 'AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM', with the date range '1914-1918' and the denomination '£5' displayed in the lower portion of the field within a beaded border. |
