| Descrizione del rovescio | Crowned and draped bust of Queen Victoria facing left, closely modelled after William Wyon's celebrated Gothic Crown portrait of 1847, wearing an ornate medieval-style crown and an elaborately embroidered robe with interlaced Celtic knotwork and floral motifs on the collar. The effigy is struck in exceptionally high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, faithfully reproducing the refined neoclassical gothic aesthetic of the original Wyon design. The circumferential legend in Gothic blackletter script reads VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D, enclosed within a finely beaded inner border and an outer border of alternating pellets and Gothic trefoil ornaments. |
