Reverse description Finely detailed draped and crowned bust of Queen Victoria facing left, after William Wyon's celebrated Gothic Crown portrait of 1847, reproduced here in high-relief proof striking. Victoria wears an elaborate Gothic crown and richly embellished robes decorated with floral and geometric motifs including Tudor roses and shamrocks. The engraver's initials W.W. appear at the lower right, flanking the truncation of the bust. The Latin legend, rendered in Gothic blackletter script, arcs around the upper and lower periphery of the field, divided by the portrait, with a decorative beaded inner border encircling the entire design.
