At the centre of the cross formed by the shields, a fouled anchor is depicted, alluding to Prince Philip's naval service. The date of the couple's wedding, 20 NOVEMBER, appears across the central field flanked by the anniversary years 1947 and 1997, with the denomination FIVE POUNDS inscribed along the lower periphery. The design was engraved by Leslie Durbin. |
