| Obverse description | Conjoined effigies of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, both facing right in right profile, with the Queen's diademed and pearl-earringed bust placed slightly in front of and below the Duke's bare-headed bust. The Queen wears a pearl necklace and is depicted with characteristic curled hair beneath her diadem. The legend ELIZABETH·II·D·G·REG·F·D arcs along the left periphery, while PHILIP·PRINCEPS curves along the right. The portraits, engraved by Philip Nathan, are rendered in a naturalistic style with fine high-relief detail befitting proof production. |
