Issued to mark Elizabeth II's fifty years on the throne, this piece is one of dozens of nearly identical Golden Jubilee crowns produced across Commonwealth and Crown Dependencies in 2002 — Jersey among them. The Royal Mint supplied coordinated specifications to multiple issuing authorities that year, resulting in a wave of silver proofs distinguishable largely by their reverses and issuer inscriptions. Jersey's fiscal autonomy from the United Kingdom means its coinage is issued independently, though the Crown Dependency relationship kept it firmly within the Jubilee commemorative programme.
