| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II·D·G·REG·F·D·5 POUNDS·2022· J.C (Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith) |
| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a right-facing laureate and draped bust of King George I, adapted from the original early eighteenth-century coinage portrait engraved by John Croker. The King is depicted with a long flowing periwig rendered in elaborate curls cascading to the shoulder, wearing classical drapery at the truncation. The portrait occupies the central field with bold high relief, characteristic of the proof striking. The circumferential legend GEORGIVS · D G · M · BR · FR · ET HIB REX · F · D · encircles the effigy, referencing George I's titles as King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith. |

Issued to mark the tercentenary of George I's accession, which brought the House of Hanover to the British throne in 1714 following the Act of Settlement's deliberate exclusion of over fifty Catholic claimants closer in blood to Queen Anne. George spoke little English and never learned it fluently, conducting government business largely in French and relying heavily on ministers — a circumstance that considerably accelerated the development of cabinet governance and the modern role of Prime Minister.
