Reverse description A detailed frontal view of the legendary LNER Class A1 Pacific steam locomotive 'Flying Scotsman', No. 4472, depicted head-on with steam billowing from the funnel and mechanical components of the front bogie and buffer beam rendered in fine relief. The locomotive's nameplate 'FLYING SCOTSMAN' appears on the smoke deflector plate, and its running number 'No 4472' is inscribed along the lower field. Stylised steam trails sweep dramatically to the right of the composition, with the denomination 'FIVE POUNDS' arching along the right-hand border in bold raised lettering, and the designer's initials 'E L' and 'L' appearing discreetly in the lower field.
