Additional information

Operation Dynamo, the naval evacuation from Dunkirk, ran from 26 May to 4 June 1940 and lifted roughly 338,000 Allied troops from the beaches — far exceeding the 30,000 the War Cabinet had privately hoped to save. The Isle of Man has a specific claim on the event: Manx fishing and pleasure vessels were among the civilian craft requisitioned for the operation, the island's maritime community contributing directly to the crossing.

Issued on the 80th anniversary under the Isle of Man's longstanding commemorative licensing arrangement with the Crown.
