| Reverse description | Central design depicting two standing male figures raising their right arms in salute before a crowd: Winston Churchill at left giving his iconic two-fingered Victory sign, and King George VI at right in military uniform with his right arm raised. Between and below the two figures is a commemorative roundel inscribed COMMEMORATION with the dates 1945 and 2005 flanking a stylised VE emblem with radiating lines. The legend END OF WORLD WAR II 60TH ANNIVERSARY arcs around the upper field, and FIVE POUNDS is inscribed along the lower exergue. |

Guernsey occupies a peculiar position in the WWII commemorative space: it was actually occupied by German forces from June 1940 until May 1945, making it one of the very few British territories to fall under Nazi administration. The liberation on 9 May 1945 — a day still celebrated on the island as Liberation Day — gives this issue a local specificity that most generic Allied victory commemoratives lack entirely.
