Issued to mark the 60th anniversary of the marriage of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who wed at Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947. Jersey, as a Crown Dependency rather than part of the United Kingdom, issues its own commemorative coinage independently of the Royal Mint — a distinction that occasionally produces parallel issues for the same event across multiple jurisdictions.
The KM#181a designation distinguishes this silver proof from the base-metal circulation strike of the same type.
