Issued in 2013 to mark Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee — her 60th year on the throne — this Alderney piece is one of dozens of commemorative crowns produced across British Crown Dependencies during the jubilee cycle. Alderney, the northernmost of the Channel Islands and technically a dependency of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, has issued coins through the Royal Mint since 1989 largely as a collector revenue stream rather than circulating currency.
The copper-nickel version sits at the lower end of a tiered release that typically included silver and gold variants at significant premiums.
