Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the United Kingdom's decimalization on 15 February 1971 — Decimal Day — this piece commemorates the conversion that replaced the centuries-old pounds, shillings, and pence system with units of 100 new pence. Jersey, as a Crown dependency, conducted its own parallel decimalization rather than adopting Westminster's legislation directly, issuing its own decimal coinage under separate authority from the same date.
