| Reverse description | The reverse design by Mike Guilfoyle commemorates the 50th anniversary of decimalisation, featuring a central rectangular panel with a mirror-polished field bearing the heading SHILLINGS and a conversion table equating pre-decimal shilling values (1/-, 2/-, 5/-, 10/-, 20/-) to their decimal equivalents (5p, 10p, 25p, 50p, £1). Flanking the central panel are raised depictions of six pre-decimal coins at left (2/-, 2/6d, 1/-) and right (1/2d, 1d, 3d), rendered in high relief against the frosted field.
