| 背面描述 | A fully equipped Allied soldier wearing a steel helmet and carrying a rifle advances across a Normandy landing beach, depicted in high relief against a detailed scenic background featuring landing craft and naval vessels offshore. The composition commemorates the D-Day landings of 6 June 1944 and the 70th anniversary of that event. The denomination £5 appears within the legend, which also bears the inscriptions 1944 D-DAY 2014 and 70th ANNIVERSARY arranged around the design. |

Issued to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, this coin holds particular weight for Jersey specifically — the island had been under German occupation since July 1940 and was not liberated until May 9, 1945, nearly a full year after the Normandy assault that ultimately made that liberation possible. Jersey's occupation was the longest of any British territory during the war, and the Channel Islands remain the only part of the British Isles to have been held by Nazi forces.
