Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the publication of Bleak House, this Alderney crown-sized piece was produced by the Royal Mint under the Crown Dependency's issuing authority — a arrangement that allows small Channel Island jurisdictions to commission commemoratives largely for the collector market rather than genuine circulation. Dickens published Bleak House serially between 1852 and 1853, and its sustained attack on the Court of Chancery is widely credited with accelerating real procedural reforms in English law.
