Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY · FIVE POUNDS · 2018 ·
Reverse description A finely detailed proof cameo depiction of a First World War British Army bugler in full military uniform, standing three-quarter view and sounding the Last Post on his bugle, with tasselled cords hanging from the instrument. Scattered across the deeply mirrored field are poppy heads in various stages of bloom, rendered in raised relief as a tribute to fallen soldiers. The design commemorates the centenary of the end of the First World War. The arc legend, inscribed in raised Latin lettering, reads 'AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM', drawn from Laurence Binyon's poem 'For the Fallen'.
