Aanvullende informatie

Alderney has issued commemorative crowns under British authority since 1993, and this piece marks the 1952 debut of the Bentley R-Type Continental — arguably the fastest production car of its era, capable of 120 mph from a 4.6-litre straight-six. Only 208 were built by coachbuilder H.J. Mulliner before the model was discontinued in 1955.

The Royal Mint struck this on behalf of the Alderney authorities under the same Crown dependency arrangement that governs all Channel Island commemorative issues. KM#199 is one of several automotive-themed pieces the dependency issued in this period.
