Issued to mark the 200th anniversary of the battle, this coin arrives from an issuer with genuine geographic proximity to the event — Jersey sits roughly 300 kilometers from the Waterloo battlefield and was firmly British-administered throughout the Napoleonic Wars. The island supplied men to British regiments and its militia remained on alert throughout the campaign period.
Gold-plated copper-nickel crowns of this format were produced in enormous quantities across dozens of issuing authorities throughout the 2015 commemorative cycle, many sharing the same 28.28g blanks sourced from the same contracted mints.
