(Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith)
Reverse description A stylised Anglo-Saxon-inspired bust of King Alfred the Great facing front, rendered in a linear, manuscript-illumination style reminiscent of ninth-century English ecclesiastical art, with interlaced foliate scrollwork and tendrils flanking the figure on either side. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The legend 'ALFRED THE GREAT' arcs around the upper periphery, with the regnal date '871' appearing to the lower right. The designer's initials 'JB' are situated in the lower field, and the issue year '2021' is inscribed in the exergue below the beaded border.
