The Royal British Legion was founded in 1921, amalgamating four separate ex-servicemen's organizations in the aftermath of the First World War. Its poppy appeal, launched that same year, raised £106,000 in the first week. This Jersey issue marks the Legion's 90th anniversary — one of dozens of gold-plated commemoratives Jersey produced during this period for the collector market, with no circulation function whatsoever.
