| 裏面の説明 | A steel-helmeted Allied soldier advances in left-facing profile, rifle at the ready, set against a panoramic background depicting the Normandy beach landing zone with amphibious craft and troops wading ashore. The poppy emblem of the Royal British Legion appears as a subsidiary device within the design. The legend 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY arcs around the upper periphery, with the denomination FIVE POUNDS inscribed along the lower field. |

Guernsey's position in this commemorative is not incidental. The island was occupied by German forces from June 1940 until May 1945 — the only British territory to fall under Nazi administration during the war — making any Guernsey-issued D-Day piece carry a historical weight that a mainland British mint simply cannot replicate. The liberation of Normandy in June 1944 did not immediately free the Channel Islands; the German garrison there held out until the formal surrender nearly a year later.
