| Reverse description | The reverse features a bold typographic design composed of the letters W, R and the word PEACE arranged vertically in the central field, evoking the word WAR with PEACE superimposed upon it — a symbolic representation of peace supplanting war. The surrounding legend reads THE END OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR, with the commemorative dates 1945 and 2020 separated by a central dot in the lower exergue. The designers' initials CD and MD appear flanking the dates, with the textured field providing a worn, aged quality to the design. |

| Additional information |
Issued to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, this crown-sized piece appeared in 2020 — the same year the last surviving British veterans of that conflict were in their mid-nineties. The Royal Mint produced copper-nickel examples for circulation-level collecting alongside precious metal variants, a tiered release structure the Mint has used consistently since the 1990s.
The Spink reference L86 places it within the current decimal commemorative series. No unusual strike anomalies are recorded for this type.
