Additional information

The White Tower commemorative is part of the Royal Mint's ongoing Tower of London series, which launched in 2020 with four releases treating different aspects of the fortress — the Crown Jewels, the Traitors' Gate, and the Legend of the Ravens accompanying this piece. The White Tower itself is the original Norman keep commissioned by William the Conqueror around 1078, making it the oldest structure on the site by several centuries.

Spink's L81 reference places this firmly in the base-metal collector issues that proliferated under the fifth portrait — a designation introduced with Jody Clark's effigy, which first appeared in 2015.
