Reverse description The reverse, designed by Stephen Taylor, depicts a field of red colourised poppies rendered in vivid applied colour, rising from a detailed low-relief landscape of stems, seed pods, wheat ears and foliage. Five poppy blooms in full colour dominate the central and lower field, evoking the Flanders fields of the First World War. The commemorative inscription is arranged in three lines across the upper field, with the engraver's initials S.T. visible in the lower right field.
