| 背面描述 | Central effigy of HRH Prince Charles facing left, adapted from a portrait by Michael Noakes, set against a densely typeset background field composed of words and phrases associated with the Prince's Trust charity, including references to opportunity, training, skills, grants, enterprise, and education. The legend FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY OF H·R·H· THE PRINCE OF WALES arcs above the central portrait, while the denomination FIVE POUNDS appears below, flanked by the dual dates 1948 and 1998 marking the Prince's birth year and the commemorative year. The engravers' initials MN and RE appear within the design field, and the inscription HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE TO SUCCEED together with THE PRINCE'S TRUST complete the reverse. |

Issued to mark Charles's 50th birthday on 14 November 1998, this crown-sized piece was produced during a period when the Royal Mint was aggressively expanding its commemorative program — a strategy that drew criticism from some collectors who felt the market was being deliberately saturated. The copper-nickel circulation strike had a mintage of around 100,000, modest by commemorative crown standards, though a substantial gold proof edition was also produced simultaneously.
