Issued on the centenary of Nightingale's death in August 1910, this Guernsey crown commemorates a woman who had by her final decades become almost entirely reclusive, conducting her vast correspondence and influence from a London sickbed for roughly fifty years. The irony that she outlived nearly every colleague who had witnessed her Crimean work firsthand was not lost on her contemporaries.
