| 背面描述 | The ornate clock face of the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) at the Palace of Westminster is depicted in fine detail at the centre of the field, serving as the primary design motif. Flanking the composition is the official London 2012 Olympic Games logo, referencing the forthcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. The inscription NATIONS TOUCH AT THEIR SUMMITS, a celebrated quotation from the Victorian constitutional theorist Walter Bagehot, arcs across the field as the principal reverse legend. The overall design by Shane Greeves combines heraldic precision with a contemporary commemorative aesthetic. |

Issued to mark the 250th anniversary of Big Ben's clock tower — though strictly speaking, "Big Ben" refers only to the main bell, a distinction the Royal Mint's own marketing cheerfully ignored. The 2009 date places this squarely in the period when the Mint was transitioning toward its 2010 relocation from Tower Hill in London to Llantrisant in Wales, a move completed that year after over seven centuries of London minting.
