This 2016 issue marks the fiftieth anniversary of England's sole World Cup victory, a tournament hosted at Wembley and decided in extra time against West Germany on a goal that remains disputed to this day. Geoff Hurst's second in the 116th minute struck the crossbar, bounced on or near the line, and was awarded by Soviet linesman Tofik Bakhramov.
