| Obverse description | Plain field bearing the Arabic legend of the Arab Republic of Egypt along the upper arc in flowing script. The denomination numeral '5' is prominently displayed in the centre of the field in large Eastern Arabic numerals, with the word 'جنيهات' (Pounds) below it. The dual dating appears in the lower portion of the field, with the Hijri year 1419 to the right and the Gregorian year 1998 to the left. A decorative calligraphic motif occupies the lower centre. The coin is bordered by a toothed inner rim with a reeded edge. |
