Obverse description Central field features the stylized logo of Dar al-Hilal publishing house, depicting an ornate crescent-shaped emblem rendered in low relief. Arabic legends arc across the upper field reading the centennial anniversary inscription '1892–1992', flanked by the dates '١٨٩٢' and '١٩٩٢' on either side. A rectangular cartouche in the lower central field bears the legend 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arab Republic of Egypt). The dual dating '١٤١٣ - ١٩٩٢' appears along the lower rim, representing the Hijri and Gregorian years respectively. The entire design is framed by a decorative milled border of alternating dashes and notches running along the inner edge of the coin.

Reverse description The reverse presents a right-facing bust portrait of the celebrated Egyptian literary figure Taha Hussein, rendered in bold relief with finely engraved detail depicting his characteristic spectacles, close-cropped hair, moustache, and suit jacket. The portrait occupies the central field, framed by an inner decorative border of alternating dash-and-notch segments consistent with the obverse. The field surrounding the portrait is plain, allowing the effigy to dominate the composition. No inscriptions appear on the reverse, with the subject identified solely by the coin's title and obverse legends.
