| Additional information |
Guernsey's relationship with VE Day is not ceremonial. The island was occupied by German forces from June 1940 until May 9, 1945 — one day after the formal Allied victory in Europe — making Liberation Day a distinct and deeply local observance still marked annually on the island. The copper-nickel colourised format follows a now-established Royal Mint and Crown Dependency commercial model, with colour applied post-strike via pad printing.
