The Greyhound of Richmond is one of the ten heraldic beasts drawn from the supporters and badges of Henry VII and Henry VIII, revived for the Queen's Beasts series under Elizabeth II and now recycled into this Charles III continuation. The original greyhound badge was associated with the Beaufort family line — the Tudor claim to the throne ran partly through Margaret Beaufort, and the greyhound was her inherited symbol before it became a royal one.
The Royal Mint has issued successive Kings' and Queen's Beasts programs with enough frequency that secondary market premiums on individual releases have compressed considerably since the original 2016 series launched.
