The Greyhound of Richmond is one of the ten heraldic beasts associated with Henry VII and the Tudor dynasty, drawn from the supporters and badges of the Beaufort and Plantagenet lines Henry needed to legitimize his claim after Bosworth in 1485. This coin is part of the Royal Mint's ongoing King's Beasts series under Charles III, a continuation of the broader beasts program that began under Elizabeth II with the Queen's Beasts issues in 2016.
The .9999 fineness is a step above the .999 standard common to most Royal Mint silver bullion, a specification change introduced to align with competitive pressure from Canadian and Australian mint offerings.
