| 正面描述 | Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and facial features, the work of sculptor Martin Jennings. The circular legend reads CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 5 POUNDS, with the date 2026 positioned in the lower field. The engraver's initials MJ appear beneath the truncation of the portrait. The proof fields exhibit a deeply mirrored finish characteristic of Royal Mint silver proof coinage. |

The Angel design has unbroken roots at the English mint stretching back to Edward IV's gold Angel of 1465, originally struck to leverage popular belief in the monarch's power to cure scrofula — coins touched by the king during the "royal touch" ceremony were frequently worn as talismans. The Royal Mint revived the type for modern collector issues beginning in the 1980s, and it has cycled through successive reigns since.
This is the first Angel issue bearing the Penny defined effigy of Charles III by Martin Jennings, approved for circulation coinage in 2023.
