Released as part of the Royal Mint's ongoing licensed music series, this issue commemorates Pink Floyd at a moment when the band's commercial and legal identity is contested — Roger Waters and the surviving members of Gilmour's lineup have been publicly and acrimoniously divided for years, making official merchandise and licensing decisions anything but straightforward. Exactly which iteration of the band this coin implicitly endorses is a question the Royal Mint almost certainly preferred not to answer publicly.
