| Obverse description | Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III after the portrait by Glyn Davies, rendered in high relief against a polished field. The truncation of the bust is bare, presenting a naturalistic and contemporary likeness of the sovereign. The circumferential legend reads CHARLES III • BAILIWICK OF JERSEY in incuse Latin script, with the date 2023 appearing in the lower field flanked by two raised dots. The designer's initials GD are incorporated into the legend. |

| Reverse description | The reverse bears the Royal Cypher of King Charles III, comprising an interlaced 'C' and 'R' surmounted by the Roman numeral III, rendered in selective gold plate against a polished silver field. Above the cypher, the St Edward's Crown is depicted in full, also finished in selective gold plate, and the whole device is surrounded by a stylised wreath of acanthus foliage likewise gilt. The circumferential legend KING CHARLES III CORONATION arcs across the upper portion of the coin, while FIVE POUNDS appears in the lower arc, both in raised Latin lettering. |

Jersey issued this piece to mark the May 2023 coronation of Charles III at Westminster Abbey — the first British coronation in seventy years, and the first in the modern era to incorporate explicitly multi-faith ceremonial elements. The island's status as a Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom, gives its mint authority an independent commemorative program entirely distinct from Royal Mint output, which accounts for the separate KM reference and the island's own heraldic identity on the reverse.
The selective gold-plate application on sterling flans became the dominant technique for British commemorative proof issues in this period, favored for its contrast under photographic lighting rather than any conservation advantage.
