The composition is richly detailed with beaded ornamentation and jewelled mounts. The commemorative legend arches across the upper field, with the coronation date inscribed below it, and the engraver's initials NF appear at lower right. |

Struck to mark the coronation of Charles III on 6 May 2023, this is the first British coronation crown issued since the Elizabeth II Coronation crown of 1953 — a seventy-year gap between events of the same type. The Royal Mint produced the piece in multiple finishes and metals, with the copper-nickel circulation-quality version intended for broad public distribution rather than collector cabinets.
Charles waited longer to accede than any heir apparent in British history — over 70 years.
