Wren's connection to Guernsey is essentially nonexistent, which makes this a purely commemorative issue capitalizing on the 2023 tercentenary of his death rather than any local historical tie. The Royal Mint has produced Wren tercentenary pieces for the UK market; this Guernsey issue is a parallel strike intended for the collector trade, authorized under the bailiwick's right to produce its own coinage independently of the UK.
